Yoga teacher training courses in Ireland

Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training Courses
Two-year teacher training courses leading to a Introductory Teaching Certificate (internationally recognised Iyengar qualification) are regularly run in Dublin. It is necessary to have attended regular classes with an Iyengar Yoga teacher for three years to be eligible for Teacher Training. For an application form and further details please contact

The Yoga Therapy and training Centre (YTTC)
The Yoga Therapy & Training Centre (YTTC) is Ireland’s largest yoga training body with local Yoga Centres nationwide. The organisation was founded in 1996 to give practitioners in Ireland the opportunity to study locally towards an internationally recognised qualification, meeting National Occupational Standards. The YTTC runs specialist courses on yoga for pregnancy, teaching yoga to children and chair yoga, as well as a 15 months (one weekend per month) Level One Diploma courses which covers asana techniques, teaching skills, relaxation, meditation and anatomy.

The Irish Yoga Association Course
The Irish Yoga Association runs a part time four year teacher training diploma course based in Dublin. Course starts every September (apply to the IYA in writing before the end of May, applicants must have been studying yoga for at least two years).
The syllabus includes Asana, Pranayama, Meditation, Relaxation Techniques, Philosophy, Anatomy & Physiology, First Aid and Psychology. This course is recognised by the European Union of Yoga.

Clonlea yoga studio
Clonlea Yoga Studio teacher training course is based on the Viniyoga of   Yoga. The course consists of 500 contact hours over 3 years. Introductory Course 2 day's workshop, and Foundation Course 5 weekends are a prerequisite for the 3 years teacher training course.  The teacher training course is accredited with the British Wheel of Yoga.

Burren Yoga and Meditation Centre Teacher Training course October 2009 - January 2010
A residential Teacher Training course with David Muehsam and covering Asana, Pranayama, Mudhra and Bandha, and including meditation within a daily practice.  Yoga Alliance International certified. 200 Hour programme over two residential modules of 16 days each.  Open to those who have completed a minimum of 4 years practice.

Pre & Post Natal Teacher Training
The Elbowroom also offers a teacher training module for those wishing to teach yoga for the perinatal period. Vinyasa flow teacher training course (200 hour certification program) in Dublin, Cork and Mullingar.

Teacher training in Galway and Waterford
Yoga Alliance International certified. 220 Hr programme over 11 months with one week residential intensive. Next courses starting in Feb 2009.

Yogaworks teacher training in Dublin
Yogaworks, one of the largest providers of yoga classes in America - has spent the last 15+ years developing a teacher training program that has trained many internationally known yogis including Shiva Rea and Seane Corn. Jenny Beeken , Teacher Awareness Programme (IYT)

Inner Yoga Trust

The Inner Yoga Trust, founded by Jenny Beeken (author of Yoga of the Heart) are hosting a three year Teacher Awareness Programme in Leixlip, Co. Kildare.  This course is accredited by the British Wheel of Yoga.
The programme begins in June 09 with a Foundation Year consisting of 6 non-residential weekends. The Foundation Course is designed to give students an understanding of the Inner Yoga approach to postures and the importance of connecting this with the eight limbs of yoga.

Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training course
Running over 9 weekends beginning in ealry 2009 held in Co. Limerick close to Limerick Junction.
